What Are They Reading In There?

AreTheKidsAllright?
ModernAgeVille

In the comment thread to yesterday's Unstuck-In-Time post a number of folks, myself included, menitoned how much Vonnegut's writing meant to them in their teens.

Which prompted Paul Willcocks to ask a pretty interesting, and potentially important, question:

I wonder, as a related issue, what the 11 to 15 year olds today are stumbling across when they begin to look for ways to make sense of the world or see it more clearly?

We had Vonnegut, Tom Wolfe, Catch-22, John Rechy, readable and radical in the way they saw the world and accessible.

What are today's young 'uns grabbing?

Anyone want to hazard guess or two*?

*Or, as a corollary, offer up some good stuff I could suggest to Bigger E. who is now smack dab in the middle of that age range.
