"Why are there so many old people in church?.........

......They're cramming for the final"

That was Richard Dawkins joking with John Allemang of the Globe and (nolongerEmpire) Mail recently. And it was a bit of atheistic schtick that I thought was way more interesting than his fire and brimming over comments regarding the intellectual shortcomings of Stockwell Day.

Which is neither here nor there, especially given all the play that Dawkins has generated on the larger issue.

As for myself, there has been no bolt of lightning or anything.

It's just that I've been really busy with work, which has been taking up all of my reading, thinking and wordsmithing time.

As for the rest of it?

The time I mean.

Well, for the past month or so I've been pretty much a fulltime song and dance Dad watching shows by all my girls, and that includes the kids Big E. and littler e. as well as my wife C.

And speaking of C., we just had our fifteenth wedding anniversary.

And one of the things we did was go and watch John Carney's movie 'Once'.

Which was really brilliant.

On a whole lotta levels.

So much so that I've already figured out the tab for 'Falling Slowly'.*

OK?

*If you want to hear Glen Hansard of 'The Frames' sing the signature song from the movie go here and you can find it at the the four minute mile mark, on the dot, on the mp3. In Vancouver, the movie itself is playing at The Park beside the trench on Cambie at 18th for the next week or so.
