So, Christine Clarke, she of the two extra e's, will be 'acclaimed' by the BC Conservative Party in Port Moody-Coquitlam:

The BC Conservatives have announced that Christine Clarke will be their candidate in the Port Moody-Coquitlam byelection....

{snippety doo-dah}

....John Cummins, leader of the BC Conservatives, offered his support for Clarke.

"I am proud of Christine Clarke, who will be acclaimed as our candidate in Port Moody-Coquitlam," Cummins said in a press release.....

{snippety doodle-dandy}

....The BC Conservative Party will hold an open nomination meeting for Port Moody-Coquitlam on Dec. 15.....

Hmmmmm....

How, precisely, can Mr. Cummins be so sure about the 'acclamation' of his party's Double-E candidate next Thursday night? I mean, somebody else could come forward and run for the nomination couldn't they?

Well....yes, they could.

And if they did, and if they did defeat the Double-E candidate based on their past work with, say, the actual Constituency Association that elected them, we can only wonder if Mr. Cummins would then invoke the nuclear option afforded by his party's constitution which goes like this:

Constituencies have a right to pick their candidate for MLA. However, the Leader and a committee of the Provincial Board of Directors have a right to over-rule that selection when it is in the best interests of the Provincial Party as a whole to do so.

______
I know I'm harping on about this, but.....James (not Jim) Green was a wild-card independent where the folks 'helping' him with his campaign stayed hidden in the background.... But in this case, it is so up-front that it would appear that the Cons are willing to foist just about anything on the electorate, with malice aforethought and in the full knowledge that anyone who is even remotely paying attention will understand what they are really up to, if they think it will help them drive a wedge into the middle of things....In other words, they seem to have decided that their ends justify pretty much any means they can come up with, regardless the corrosive effect it will have on an already cynical electorate.
