This Day In Snookland...The Bully's Lockout.

YouDon'tMessAroundWith
JimVille

It would seem to me that Dave, over at the Galloping Beaver, has a helluva point:

Christy Clark takes credit for creating Pink Shirt Day, an initiative intended to combat the bullying that occurs in BC schoolyards. It was a useful illusion to help her fulfill her political ambitions. There's only one problem: Christy Clark is one of the most notorious bullies in British Columbia.

Christy Clark is the one who tore up collective agreements, repeatedly violated the constitutional rights of teachers and has brutally starved the provincial public education system at all levels. It makes one wonder what it is this daughter of a BC teacher has against education in general and public-school teachers specifically...

So, how should the teachers' deal with this bully, once and for all, to end the madness?

Well, I think Dave has a pretty good point there too:

...(The Teachers) have been bullied since 2002, yet they've only pulled themselves out to the picket line for 14 days since 1995. They've watched their working conditions deteriorate, at the hands of Christy Clark and have appeared powerless. The courts find in their favour and Christy Clark ignores it.

Time to get tough. Find the (real job action) hammer handle and threaten to swing it. When Clark and Fassbender (who should be described by the media as an extreme fundamentalist) attempt to ignore the threat, follow through. Are there going to be hard feelings? Of course. You don't pull down a bully by being nice...

And, in the immortal words of Jim Croce, 'you don't tug on Superman's cape' either.

So...

Me thinks it might be time to find a phone booth get into costume Mr. (Jim) Iker.

Cape included.

OK?

_______
And Pops, head on over to Dave's to get his take on what the towboat guys are up to.

The Campbell/Clark BC Liberals work for Harper. I have noticed the BC Liberals, govern exactly as Herr Harper does. Actually Christy Clark prorogued Legislature, the same time as Harper prorogued Parliament. Then a little later? Harper skipped the country.

It is Herr Harper's aim to get rid of Unions. They keep wages much too high for the corporations liking.

We must close Union Offices, confiscate their money and put their leaders in prison. We must reduce workers salaries and take away their right to strike.

The most heinous form of official state bullying (the teachers' strike notwithstanding) is the depredations of the Civil Forfeiture Office. It has bullying down to a science: target victims of substance, out of public view to hide unconstitutional tactics, make them an offer they can't refuse, that is, threaten them with legal costs that will ruin them, their reputations and their futures, then extort 'donations' to various projects dear to the various agencies complicit in the extortion; that's bullying writ large, only in secret--you'll never hear a complaint from 98% of victims.

We've only heard three official responses to criticism of CFO abuses: one from a BC Liberal caucus member, one from the dithering, incompetent Minister of Justice---but the one made by Christy Clark was most remarkable: she defended unethical CFO forfeitures because they fund---get this---her personal special interest in schoolyard bullying.

WoW! Not only does the pink T-shirted Princess Warrior of bullies do some pretty impressive bullying of her own in the schoolyard, her T-shirt supply is funded by the meanest, hardball bullies in Canada, the BC Civil Forfeiture Office.

I guess that's why she figures she's an authority on schoolyard bullying---it pays for the parade.

Godwin's law is an Internet adage asserting that
"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1"

"There is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever debate was in progress."

I am not a lawyer.

The June 4/14 decision handed down by BCLRB Vice-Chair Longpre seems to have missed the mark.

The BCTF/BCPSEA collective agreement uses different language than that which was used in the SCC Paccar decision - presumably because BOTH parties would have been aware of Paccar when they agreed to terms.

"In the event that a new Collective Agreement is not in place by June 30, 2013 the terms
of this Collective Agreement are deemed to remain in effect until the date on which a
new Collective Agreement is concluded.
" This is 'weasel word' free language, unlike the smarmy stuff the learned jurists based their considerations on.

It is as if Longpre never bothered to read the source material.

Link to .PDF of the collective agreement -- http://www.bcpsea.bc.ca/documents/sd-collective-agreements/00-CW-PCA%202011-2013-Draft%204%20Dec%203%202012%20doc.pdf

Read the Galloping Beaver post the other day and agree. The leiberals have been bullies since they came into office.

Their first act of bullying behaviour was the firing of 9K women who worked in hospitals as cleaners. The government then contracted out their jobs to the lowest bidder. No wonder B.C. has the highest rate of child poverty in Canada for the past 10 yrs. At least 9K women lost jobs which gave them a "living wage". Its been all down hill since then.

We watched the lieberals/B.C. Hydro bully people into "accepting" the not so smart meters. Those who didn't comply, are being fined $20 or $35 a month depending upon their type of meter.

During all of this people have continued to vote the lieberals back into office. perhaps we ought to have a shrink come in and look at the population. It reminds me of co-dependency or whatever you want to call staying with your abuser.
