How Is Canada Different From America...No. 2,467...

Sure, there are lots and lots and lots of similarities.

But there are also a lot of differences.

And some of those differences still matter.

****

The following is from a blog post by the ever-vigilant Fern Hill:

...(W)ith the nearly unanimous passage of the Ontario "Safe Access to Abortion Services Act, 2017"....we see another fault-line in today's politics.

Even hard-line, self-avowed anti-choicers flee from actually voting on abortion issues.

The bill passed 86 to 1, the one being Jack MacLaren, former PC and now member of the Trillium Party.

Note that no Progressive Conservatives voted against it...

{snip}

...It's hard not to conclude that an anti-choice stance is now so toxic to mainstream Canadians that a beleaguered leader like (Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown CANNOT even throw his social conservative supporters a bone in a vote that had a foregone outcome.

And the so-cons are pissed.

Imagine that!

it truly is amazing while almost no politician in Canada will vote for compulsory pregnancy, in the U.S.A. state after state continues to try to impose the will of strangers on women they don't know and they get away with it. Its against the law to rape a woman but its not against the law to force her to have a baby. well we know they voted for Trump and that explains a lot of it.
